Radiation Therapy

A medical technique that uses high-energy radiation to treat cancer and certain other diseases.

Subject Introduction

Radiation Therapy aims to destroy tumor cells or shrink tumors to minimize their impact on surrounding tissues. It is typically carried out by a team of radiation therapists, physicians, and medical physicists. Treatment plans are tailored to the specific needs of the patient. During therapy, patients receive precise radiation doses, which may cause side effects, but the goal is to improve survival rates and quality of life. Radiation Therapy can be used as a standalone treatment or as an adjunct to surgery or chemotherapy.
